ALLi News: Opening Up to Indie Authors launch and a final call!

LBF 2014(1)Announcing the official launch of Opening Up to Indie Authors

ALLi is delighted to announce more details on our Opening Up to Indie Authors launch.

The official launch of the book, campaign and petition, sponsored by Kobo, will take place at London Book Fair. Opening Up to Indie Authors (OUTIA) guidebook contributors, Debbie Young and Dan Holloway will be at the Kobo Booth at 2pm on Tuesday 8th April, together with series editor, Orna Ross. If you are travelling to the fair, make sure you stop by for readings, coffee and cookies.

Alongside that, there will be copies of the book with 50% off, available via the Kobo platform for the duration of the fair. And if that wasn’t enough, there will also be multiple satellite events around the world, featuring ALLi members showcasing their work (and the guidebook) at Kobo partner retailers.

All in all, it’s a massive publishing first, and we’re beyond excited to see the latest ALLi project come to fruition.

The guidebook itself enables all players, including authors, to meet the challenges of absorbing author-publishers into the wider publishing and literary ecosystem. Which means not only encouraging industry players, including bookstores, libraries, reviewers and literary conferences, festivals and event organisers to open up to self-publishing authors, but also showing indie authors the constraints that the industry must operate within and how they can give themselves the best chance of inclusion. In short – the guidebook shows how everyone can benefits when author-published work is included, something ALLi is always keen to remind the rest of the world.

The guidebook will launch alongside our campaign –  so if you believe self-publishing authors should have equal opportunities, please take a moment to sign ALLi’s Open Up To Indie Authors Petition.

If you are not an ALLi member, don’t forget, alongside all the other benefits we offer, there is also a great 50% discount on London Book Fair entry – the perfect excuse to join us now.
