Indie Author Fringe (formerly known as IndieReCon) offers FREE ONLINE DAY CONFERENCES for authors interested in self-publishing.
We offer the best self-publishing advice and education for indie authors across the world — using the global reach of the ALLi network.
Indie Author Fringe grew out of IndieReCon, where the goal was to make great indie publishing "a mission possible” for any writer, across the world. That continues.
And we are still (and always will be) run by authors for authors, so it’s all free!
We have planned three online international events in 2016 on the heels of London Book Fair (April 12th-14th 2016), Book Expo America (May 11th-13th 2016) and Frankfurt Book Fair (19th-23rd October 2016).
Over the course of the year, our online Indie Author Fringe events will take authors through the entire indie author journey, from writing to promotion and beyond.
Each event will offer 24 hours of non-stop advice and inspiration, organized around the self-publishing topics below.
And all will be available here on this website afterwards so we can read, watch, listen and learn whenever we want.

Meet the Indie Author Fringe Organisers
Novelist and poet Orna Ross is Founder and Director of The Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi) the global association for authors who self-publish. ALLi is a nonprofit organisation, bringing together the world’s best indie authors, advisors and services, offering contacts and campaigns, education and collaboration — together with trusted guidance on how to self-publish well.
The indie author movement is the most important development in publishing today and the Indie Author Fringe and ALLi are at its heart, providing the support and information authors need to decide what’s best for them — and do it.”
David’s first professional publication came in 1973 when a short story was accepted by Galaxy magazine. This was followed by appearances in the UK magazine Vertex. In 1974 his first novel, The Sunset People, was accepted for publication by Robert Hale and David was taken on by the Leslie Flood Literary Agency.
Three other science fiction novels followed until real life rudely interrupted this idyll, and David spent the next 35+ years in a variety of jobs, eventually running his own software company.
David is currently crafting his thoughts.
Jay is a project manager specialising in Content Marketing and Social Media Strategy. She runs a monthly Pinterest for Authors sweepstake via her website and is a Social Media Mentor at WoMentoring. Jay is also the Social Media & Outreach Manager at the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi), and facilitates the monthly #AuthorALLiChat on Twitter.
As an author-publisher, Jay spends part of the year in Turkey researching content for her self-published Travel Guide series and her Bodrum Peninsula Travel Guide Website.
Collaboration and knowledge sharing are at the heart of the self-publishing community, and ALLi and the Indie Author Fringe events exemplify these values wholeheartedly.
Meet the IndieReCon Founders
The History of IndieReCon and its metamorphosis into the Indie Author Fringe
IndieReCon started in 2013 with co-founders Ali Cross and SR Johannes. They were keen to create a conference that challenged the stigma of self publishing.
Fast forward to 2015, with the success and reputation of author-publishing on the rise, IndieReCon joined with the Alliance of Independent Authors to take the conference to the next level.
IndieReCon 2015 was an online conference offering the best advice and education for independent-minded authors across the world — but offered expanded programming and global reach, though ALLi’s networks. And exciting live events, around the globe. Including, hooking up with The London Book Fair, to provide an exciting day of live-streamed events, live from London's Foyles Bookstore.
The goal has always been to “make indie publishing a mission possible” for any writer, across the world, and that is still our vision.
IndieReCon has been rebranded for 2016 and it's new guise is the Indie Author Fringe. Our overarching theme for the 2016 events will be "Going Global", and each individual event throughout the year will have a specific focus.
We are still (and always will be) run by authors and for authors, so it’s all free!
